my hair is dark brown and i used an ash blonde with 30 volume peroxide thinking it would cancel out red tones. now my hair is orange brown....how do i get rid of the orange....i am aiming for a regular neutral brown..........no red or orange

Yes, you can just buy another darker color at CVS, but it contains more peroxide which will eventually draw out more red and orange....it's a vicious, damaging cycle. I went through it for about a year, until learning about toners. It just permanent hair dye without the harsh chemicals. If you go to a hairdresser to fix it, I guarantee she will use a toner for $$$. You can fix this yourself for about $10.00. (2 oz bottle of toner and develop creme...mix, apply, leave on 30 minutes.

what you did was pull some color out of your hair and browns naturally have red tones in them. so what you need to do is get a med ash brown or a light ash brown and cover it. if your roots are lighter than the rest i suggest doing them first then pulling the color through the rest of your hair for the last ten min. good luck.

you need a natural brown choose a shade that states natural brown with no golden brown (has gold/orange tones) chocolate brown(has red tones) the orange tone will show through as a highlight underneath if you add natural brown on top of this if you want it it plain brown you need a dark black brown which has no red orange or golden tones at all, this will completely cover the highlights but will be very dark, you can then begin to lighten up with a semi permanent in a neutral brown
