I have blonde hair and want to dye it to regular color - medium brown?

I have blondey brown hair now and I would like to dye it to medium brown (my original color). I have tried this before at home but I find that the brown color doesnt stick and my hair turns a greenish color. What can I do without going to the salon?

I know my friend dyed her hair platinum and she wanted to dye it brown and her hair is too damaged now the cuticle won't close to capture the color. Even the salon told her she would need to cut it off and or grow it out.

Nothing. It needs filled first and since you don't know enough about color, you are more than likely going to get green. Go to a salon. It will be worth it.

The greenish color would be an ASH (cooler) base... to avoid this problem, go with a color that has a red (warmer) base. Also, if your hair is very light, you'll want to color a shade darker so that when it begins to fade you'll have a real color, not a pink or green, which is a common case for hair that's been highlighted first.
