Can I keep blonde hair in good condition?

I have virgin dark brown hair, in really good condition. If I get it bleached at a Paul Mitchell salon, will it damage it badly, or is it possibly to keep it in good condition?

all blonde hair if bleached will be severly damaged, i recommend geting natural blonde highlights put in your hair at a professional salon. they usualy have a really good brand that doesn't damage your hair.

Blonde is very damaging to your hair. Instead of adding color, you are stripping it of color.

Your best bet would be to spend money on high quality products to protect color treated hair. Also, it's really good that you are getting this done at a salon and not doing it on your own.

Maybe you should do blonde high lights first so you can see how your hair reacts to that before you die your whole head and damage it all.

Good luck! : )

I used to have really thick healthy hair and then I went blonde and I lost the thickness and the healthiness of it all. Going blonde means that the bleach removes the pigment in your hair, the hair structure is weakened. This makes it less versatile and damages too easily. But, the John Frieda collection for blonde hair is amazing. The range is so varied...it goes from your normal shampoo and conditioner to the pots of specially formulated treatments. You can even buy a shampoo that helps maintain your blonde, so you don't have to revisit the salon too much, resulting in less dying and less damage. I use the John Frieda range and I love it. My hair's not back to the way it was but I can really tell the difference. I absolutely love the pot of hair treatment...you leave it on your hair for 15 mins and rinse off and it just leaves your hair so glossy and it helps to repair the damage of the dye.

But, if you're not willing to risk the healthiness of your hair then you should just try getting some highlights through the top of your hair. That way you can compare the blonde strands to the rest of your hair and see if being blonde is worth it.
