Preference by Loreal really is good. It also has the best conditioner I have found with hair dye. Just remember when using it on already highlighted hair that area will look even lighter than the rest. All hair color is damaging to hair. If your not gray at all I would recommend letting it grow out for a while before you dye it again if you can. Good Luck

to be honest, all home hair colourants arnt really that powerfull. i tried the 'extreme colour' range in the lightest blonde and it made my hair go orange!!! it also depends on your own natural hair colour. to get a high lift i would recommend you get it done proffessionally

you say your hair doesn't colour very well, if you have dark/ brown hair, then to take it lighter you will have to strip the hair of the darker pigment. some kits contain a pre lightener and a colour, but i really do think its best done at the hairdressers, good luck.

all hair home dyes are powerful and they really do mess your hair up big time!i know it can cost a small fortune at the hairdressers BUT it will still be cheaper then repairing the damage the home kit has done to your hair! I know i home dyed my hair for about a year and well the cost was great but the damage was bad! but then wen i had to have my hair repaired it cost me more then it would have done if i had just done to get my hair dyed at the hairdressers!!

The only way to get hair to lighten as you want it is to bleach it, then you have to get a toner and tone it to a level that you want, either warmer or cooler tones. Honestly, if you are not experienced in coloring hair I wouldn't recommend doing this on your own, the potential for seriously damaging your hair, seriously outweighs the cost savings in doing it yourself. I would recommend going to a stylist and telling them what you are looking for, they will be able to get your desired look without killing your hair.

Highlights should not damage if done correctly. If bleach is required no heat and nothing more than 20 volume will get it done. If it requires heat then it is probably too light and will look trashy. Blondes are tough and highlights are the way too go because you use different tones and levels which add depth and dimension making hair look natural. Store bought color is not advanced enough to tone unwanted brassiness and will make you look not so good, period.
