I have dirty blonde hair- will lemon juice make it lighter?

i read that for lighter hair color you should drench your hair in lemon juice and then let it dry in sunshine, i will try it this summer but will it work? are there any side-effects like really dried out hair? and how long should i stay in the sun? how long will it last? thanks for all your help!

shower, put leave-in conditioner in your hair and then lemon juice. then just say in the sun for as long as possible. it lasts longer if yu keep it in longer. it do it all summer and im a blonde as well. the leave in conditioner makes it 10 times better though

Yeah it really does work. There's also a John Frieda lemon gel you can buy that is especially for your hair. Or you could use chamomile tea or rinse your hair in vinegar to lighten it. Just leave it on for as long as pos. Then after you're done in the sun, use a deep conditioning treatment on your hair. You'll have gorgeous soft blonde locks in no time!

Yes it will work! Also, to go along with the lemon juice try using either a shampoo and conditioner made for blonds or one with citrus in it. Those will help maintain the color that the lemon creates.

I do not recommend this at all unless you want Yellow hair! I went to beauty college and learned that it does lighten your hair but your hair will look yellow instead of blond! eek! and yes it does also dry out and damage your hair

you would have better luck going to a salon the bleach they use there will do some damage to your hair as well but not nearly as bad as the lemon juice

I also herd that if you use chamomile tea in a spritz bottle and spray it in your hair sit in sun for 2 hrs each day it will help :)

My colour always looks nice when I've just had it done but after a few washes it starts to look a dirty blonde so just went and got 2 of them wella shaders and toners in a medium blonde, made it noticeably lighter!

yes it will....i do this all the time but it started to dry out my hair a little so i started putting a few drops of conditioner in the lemon juice and mixing it up and it worked great!!! also you dont have to wait until the summer, because you can use your hair dryer too. also, i would try john freida shampoo (forgot the name but it has blondes in the name!!) and i use it every day it is great!! it naturally lightens your hair with lemon shavings, chamomille, and sunflower seed extract and isnt too expensive. also olive oil lightens your hair, so if you put a little in your hair at night, wrap a towel around your hair and go to sleep, it will be lighter in the morning (though wash your hair twice to get it out) and it also prevents your hair from turning green as a result of chlorine from your pool or whatever. i would also brew chamomille tea and put it in your hair, because i have heard that works...a lot of people say sun in works also but it could turn your hair orange, so i wouldnt take that risk......
