Get a good stylist. The high contrast highlights are pretty out though. Go for something a bit more mellow.

because you must put after the highlight a cream finalization, silve, the name is silver, da loreal, so your hair will be a litle bit gray!!

good luck!!!

Go to a good colorist. Don't try to do it yourself.

Even colorists make mistakes.

My sister had dark brown hair...tried to highlight it...it came out purple.

Myself, I have used all types of coloring agents on my dark brown hair and it has never turned purple. Don't know what she did wrong.

I had the same problem when my dark brown dye faded out. I went to a stylist and she put violet tones in my hair no negate the red ones and now it's not brassy at all. =]

thats totally easy. get the shade of blonde closest to your hair color...if your hair is dark brown, stick to dark blonde highlights. If your hair is medium brown, go for golden blonde highlights and so on. Hope it looks great

If your hair is that dark and you want to go blond, you should see a professional to do it. She can select the right shade of blond to make you look stunning and match your face. I know its more expensive, but after a few times at the salon, maybe you can try doing it yourself. Good luck.

Go to a color specialist, ask at the salon if they have one if not don't be afraid to ask a stylist how long they have done hair.I always suggest a consultation with a stylist first that way you can get a feel for them. You can get dark hair a nice blonde color by bleaching then toning the hair after the desired lightness is achieved.I also recommend a toning shampoo to use afterwards. Also if you have well water instead of city water you could turn orange from the rust in the water and may need some malibu treatments or shampoo to use, it removes hard water build up.never try to bleach dark hair yourself the results could be disasterous!

When you lighten dark hair it goes through these phases. Black, brown, brown-red, auburn, med auburn, orange red, orange, titan, gold, yellow-gold, pale yellow, white....destroyed.

I have naturally dark brown (level 2) hair and I've bleached my hair using Clairol BW2 extra strength lightening powder and I use 40 volume creme developer which takes it to a pale yellow and then I'll use a toner over that....at that point I was going platinum so I'd use a a violet toner on my hair.

Chances are that maybe the hair dresser didn't use the correct level of developer on your friend....unless your friend dyed her hair a dark color and didn't tell the hairdresser about it.

I have very dark almost black hair. I have tried many different processes to get blonde highlights. The best thing I have found is a frosting kit for dark hair. The trick is not to rinse out too soon. If you do then you end up with the orange hair. If you keep the frosting in your hair for the allotted time you will have your blonde. If you ever decide to go back dark, be sure to use a product that has a red base or you will turn green, so be careful. Also get a good conditioner because when you bleach your hair it will be very dry.
