Is there any other way to lighten hair withour bleaching.
I have medium brown hair and would like to go blonde but without the harsh bleaches. How light can i go with semi permanent colours?

Sorry you can't, and leave it to the pros, going blonde, is very harsh on the hair.

There are lightening gels that you can purchase, that will gradually lighten your hair color. I've tried several with great results. You can also put lemon juice in your hair and allow it to soak in your scalp with the power of the sun. That is how women in Brazil get natural, sun-kissed golden locks. :)

OMG I'm a pro when it comes to going from brown to blonde I have brown hair naturally but I dye it all the time. I have went to the lights blonde you can go before without the bleach. I'm not sure about the semi permanent colors but I know with permanent colors you can go to really light blonde.

Go to a salon, they use less harsh chemicals than what you would get in a box. You NEVER want to take your hair from bruntette to blonde by yourself! TRUST ME, I know, I turned mine pumpkin orange!!! PLEASE don't do it yourself, they will know what to put and how much and where at a salon. You will have to gradually go blonde. It takes some time to get to the shade of blonde you want.

The best way is to go to litter tones. Luckily you have medium brown so it won't be so hard, next time you shop get light brown and then in a month or so go lighter. And, keep moving up 'till you get the shade you want. It's the only way, and you won't damage your hair.

I am a colorist and i am here to help you. You can NOT temporally remove color from your hair. there are many other forms of high lift tints so bleaching does not have to be an issue. but you will be using a permanent hair color. so to reiterate you can not semi permantly lighten you must actually step up and go for it. So find a good colorist and have fun

not that light...maybe dark blonde....bleach really does the trick, but if you don't want to use it just keep dying it. dying doesn't damage the hair as much it actually makes it thicker.

The truth of the matter is that you cannot lighten your hair with just a basic level 2 semipermanent color. Your result will be the original medium brown color if you use a semipermanent. Semipermanents are great only for gray coverage of if you only want to darken since there is minimal peroxide in a semipermanent hair color. To lighten your level you need a level three permanent color. The good news is that you can go blonde without using harsh bleaching techniques and without ammonia. Medium Brown hair can go blonde in one hour or less since the blonde color works well on medium brown hair. The question is what kind of blonde to want to go? Cooler or Warmer. Here are my suggestions. If you are fairskinned and very pale explore the Ash, Neutral, Beige, Champagne( medium or light is fine) or the ultra lights. Ultra Light Blondes are great because they give you the most dramatic blonde color without bleaching. How good is that?! However if you have a peaches and cream skin tone of if you are tanned then stick with the natural, strawberry and golden shades of blonde hair. Go warmer. Here are some hair color products you would like. If you want to try a basic color explore the revlon colorsilk blondes collection. My personal favorites are the #70 Medium Ash Blonde( which will give you a candace bergen inspired blonde shade) The #72 Strawberry Blonde( Which will give you a nicole kidman blonde shade) Also you can try colorsilk #71 golden blonde ( which will give you a reese witherspoon inspired blonde) of the #73 ( Champagne Blonde which will give you a kim catrall inspired blonde shade). Medium Brown hair is great because there is so much you can do with it. Also don't hesitate to use the #91 Very light beige blonde ( This color gives you a Scarlett Johanson inspired blonde. Also If you want to liven things up as i sated earlier don't be afraid to use the ultra light blonde shades. They are one of the best. Another tip if you are having a hard deciding between two colors always stick with the lighter color. The result will be a balanced hair care finish. If you want to pamper yourself I really recommend exploring this brand new revolutionary breakthrough color also by revlon. It is called revlon colorist with a colorglaze system. I personally recommend either the revlon colorist #83 Medium Golden Blonde or the #81 Medium Ash Blonde. Again depends wether warm of cool shades suit you. Both are beautiful multitonal colors with built in highlights. The possibilites are endless. Both Colorist and Colorsilk are salon quality colors without the salon. Do yourself a favor and save time and money by being your own colorist. After you colored your hair to keep your new blonde color vibrant use the sheer blonde glaze shampoo and condtioner for cooler shades ( use the Sheer Blonde Platinum to Champage) for the warmer Shades use the John Frieda ( sheer blonde Honey to caramel). It up to you to choose which blonde shade is right for you. You will go from brown to blonde in no time at all. With these tips you will have beautiful and shiny blonde hair you will look as if you came out from an acutual beauty salon.

Sorry but you have to bleach. You have to bleach it lighter than the color you want. Bleach removes or lightens color pigment. Hair color only deposits color. Semi permanent colors do not lighten they only deposit color. Go to a beauty salon or beauty school and ask for a consultation about it. Consultations are usually free and you can look at color swatches and see what you like and how much it costs. The prices vary during the procedure because it's hard to tell how much solution would be needed. If I was you I would just get highlights. You wont have to get touch-ups every month like when you go solid. You won't have a burning scalp and it wont require a pre-disposition test 24 hrs. ahead of the appt. If your under 18 you'll have to have a parent sign saying it's ok.
