Dying my hair, from medium brown to dark blonde?

i would like to dye my hair from dark/medium brown to dark blonde, kinda a sand color. i don't have enough money to go to a salon, but i've gone that light before, just been a while since i've done it. what brand of hair dye is the best?

btw, my hair has been dyed before, many times. so idk if that needs to be taken into consideration when trying to dye my hair blonde.

The instructions below teach you how to dye your hair blonde a natural way;

Natural Blonde Dye Ingredients:

Be sure and get all the ingredients at the store and lay everything out before you start the recipe. Everything will need to be added at once.

2 whole uncut fresh lemons (squeezed %26amp; strained for juice)

2/3 ounces or 20 grams of marigold flowers (you can buy at health food store)

2/3 ounces or 20 grams of chamomile flowers (buy at health food store)

1 - 1 1/4 ounces or 30 grams of finely chopped or powdered rhubarb root ((grocery store or heath food store)

2 ounces or 50 grams of acacia honey (health food store)

1 pint or 1/2 liter cider vinegar

2 ounces or 50 grams of 95% proof liqueur alcohol (liquor store).

Put the vinegar and rhubarb into a stainless steel saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer very gently for 10 minutes. Be sure to make it exactly 10 minutes. Less or more may cause problems.

Add the chamomile and marigold flowers and juice of the two lemons. Cover the pan and simmer for another 5 minutes. Remove completely from the heat.

Let the mixture stand covered with the lid until the liquid is tepid. Filter the concoction through a fine sieve into a bottle.

Make sure you squeeze out any liquid in the herbs left in the sieve. Remember to be careful since the liquid may still be warm or even a tiny bit hot.

Add the honey, alcohol and squeezed and strained lemon juice from the 2 lemons. Put a tight cap on the bottle and store for your next shampoo.

If you've dyed your hair before, you're going to be really restricted with lighter shades. Whenever you lighten your hair, you have to bleach it. Since you already changed the structure of your hair somewhat with the previous times you've dyed it, the bleach won't have much actual hair protein to grab onto. So, you'll have to be very careful and hope it doesn't turn pink. I really suggest switching to another idea or going to a salon.Good luck and best wishes! :)

I would be interested to know your color level? You can find out easily by going into Sally's and looking thru the color swatches in there.

If you are medium brown, you can achieve a dark blonde with a 40 volume peroxide and a level 8 or 9. If your hair is dark brown, its gonna be a little harder to do but you could try a level 9 or 10 with a 40 volume peroxide possibly. You'll have to buy the color and the peroxide separately at Sally's or any other beauty supply store. Use a creme peroxide with a liquid color and use a color bottle.

When you touch up your hair, you'll want to do a root treatment only. 40 volume peroxide is pretty harsh to the hair over time, so you don't want to fry your hair by coloring it entirely each time. Be careful too, not to overlap for this reason.

You can watch my youtube video that shows you how to do a root color here:

Personally, I've used L'Oreal hair color all my professional life, and always had good results. (17 years Cosmetologist) Most of the time, we stick with what we know works best for us.

I have chunky blonde foils through my naturally med-light brown hair. How do I keep the blonde BLOND

I get my hair professionally foiled so I know the job is being done properly. It looks excellent for the first week or two but it gradually looks brassy or even looks brown where it should be really blonde.

What specific products can I buy to keep my hair blonde?

- I currently use Edward Beale hilite bright shampoo for blondes (it is purple) but feel it doesn't work. I have also used Andrew Collinge highlight enhancing shampoo for platinum to champagne blondes but didn't think it worked either.

I also want to go a lot more blonder in the future, but feel I need to find the right products before I do this as it would be a disaster if it all goes brassy!!

PLEASE HELP!!! Thank you....

I have chunky blonde foils through my naturally med-light brown hair. How do I keep the blonde BLONDE!!??

John Freeder has some great products for this, i get them from the UK so not sure if you can get them there.

I also started with brown hair and gradually went blonde like you.

Unfortunatly its just a case of finding good products (ask your hairdresser) and try not to wash it more than once a day.

I had more blonde put in my hair about 2 years ago along with lighter browns but i have recently just gone to having a full head of highlighted blonde put through, my hair dresser said that was the reason it was looking brassy after 3 weeks or so. She also does this shine mask thing in between colours to make it more fresh till the next colour.

I have blonde hair and keep it that way with a toner. it removes all the brassy and orange tones in your hair

i use shwarzkopf nordic blonde toner..yea its good cept it dries out your hair if its slightly damaged

Go to sally beauty supply and get something called 'silver lights' it is a purple shampoo which is an opposing color to orange/gold tones, it tones out the brassiness. Use it as needed or about twice a week.

since all your hair is not naturally blonde you should not use a shampoo that specializes in blonde hair... this may be what is turning your hair brassy. have you tried just the basics... sheer blonde is safer to use or a shampoo that helps color-treated hair?? don't waste your money on expensive shampoos when you can get something much cheaper that will do a better job... or maybe just go blonder and see how that works out for you. you could just be using the wrong shade blonde which in turns makes your hair brassy... talk to your stylist. talk to many. get several opinions from several different stylists. then come up with your own conclusion from there.

Sure if I were you I'd go with more chunky highlights, it would set off you're hairstyle better. If you want chunky highlights make sure your stylist foils, with a cap Highlights tend to blend more into the hair.
